The NBA added another service to its OTT universe. NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour cable channel, which was available until now only via a cable subscription, will be offered independently via OTT.
Basketball fans can subscribe directly to the new service, which offers more than 100 live games per season, in addition to original programming and library content, for USD 6.99 per month or USD 59.99 per year. In addition, it offers coverage of WNBA, NBA G League and NBA Summer League matches, as well as all the finals from the 2000 season to 2019. The channel will continue to be available to subscribers who receive it as part of their pay TV offer.
This is the first channel of a premier sports league to launch independently via streaming. ‘We believe it is the right step. Fans watching NBA want to do it where and how they want’, said Chris Benyarko, NBA Direct-to-Consumer VPS. NBA TV joins the NBA streaming service, NBA League Pass, which offers up to 40 games per week.
